Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of mobile apps published by CodeSapien (the “Apps,” including Sudoku AI), operated by Lance Walker doing business as CodeSapien (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using any of the Apps you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Apps.
1. License to use the Apps
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Apps on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license is conditioned on your continued compliance with these Terms.
What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Apps except as expressly permitted by applicable law
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Apps
- Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer your rights in the Apps
- Use the Apps in a way that violates any law or third-party right
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any technological measures that restrict access to paid features
2. Subscriptions
The Apps may offer auto-renewing subscriptions for premium features (currently the Sudoku AI Premium subscription, product ID sudoku_ai_premium_monthly).
2.1 What you get
- Unlimited AI coaching (no daily cap on coached games)
- No banner, interstitial, or rewarded ads in the App
- Any additional premium-only features available at the time of subscription
2.2 Auto-renewal
Important — auto-renewal disclosure: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your payment method on file with Google Play or Apple will be charged the then-current price for each renewal.
2.3 Pricing
The current price is shown in-App and on the subscription confirmation screen presented by Google Play or Apple before you complete purchase. Prices may vary by country and may include applicable taxes. We may change pricing for future renewals; if we do, Google or Apple will notify you in advance and you may decline by cancelling before the change takes effect.
2.4 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain premium access for the remainder of the period you have already paid for.
- Google Play (Android): Play Store app → tap your profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → select Sudoku AI Premium → Cancel subscription
- App Store (iOS): Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → select Sudoku AI Premium → Cancel Subscription
2.5 Refunds
All subscription purchases are processed by Google Play or Apple. Refund requests are handled by them according to their respective policies and we cannot directly issue refunds. If you believe a refund is warranted, contact:
- Google Play: support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637
- App Store: reportaproblem.apple.com
If you experienced an issue we should know about (a bug that prevented you from using a feature you paid for, e.g.) please also reach out to lance@codesapien.dev so we can fix it.
2.6 Free trials and promotions
If we offer a free trial, the duration and conversion price will be disclosed before you start the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and your payment method will be charged.
3. Advertising
The free tier of the Apps displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. By using the free tier you consent to seeing ads. Ad personalization is governed by our Privacy Policy and your device’s tracking-permission settings (iOS App Tracking Transparency / Android Advertising ID).
4. User content and account
The Apps use anonymous identifiers to save your stats, leaderboard entries, and preferences. We do not require you to create an account. Stats and leaderboard entries are visible to other users only if you opt into the public leaderboard.
5. Intellectual property
The Apps, including all code, design, text, graphics, sounds, and other content, are owned by CodeSapien and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. Sudoku itself is a public-domain puzzle format; specific puzzles, coaching content, and user interfaces are our original work.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APPS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE APPS WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE COACHING CONTENT WILL BE FREE OF MISTAKES OR THAT ANY PARTICULAR FEATURE WILL FUNCTION AT ALL TIMES.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL CODESAPIEN BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APPS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APPS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) USD $50.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CodeSapien from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Apps, or your violation of any third-party right.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Apps at any time if you violate these Terms or if we cease to operate the Apps. You may stop using the Apps at any time by uninstalling them. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid subscription period; however the cancellation policy in Section 2.4 still applies.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date at the top and surface the change in-App on next launch. Your continued use of the Apps after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of [Lance — fill in your state of residence here before publishing], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in that state, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
12. Apple-specific terms (iOS only)
If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and CodeSapien only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and has the right to enforce them against you.
